It
all began in 1973 with a small fawn and white dog (DE GRATTON FITTIPALDI)
who was given to me for my 18th birthday and since then I have never
been without a whippet. In those days my parents showed cocker spaniels
and I continued to show both breeds until the mid 1987 when I imported
MARIVON APOLLO from the UK and decided to concentrate on this lovely
breed.
Not
a breeder by choice, my goal is to own and show quality, sound whippets
and to promote the breed to the general public as the ideal pets they
are. Puppies are available very seldom from carefully planned litters
to approved homes.
The
Whippet who gave me the taste of that wonderful winning feeling was
CH DE GRATTON SUNSHINE OF THALYSIA. Sunshine was the daughter of CH
Oakbark Mastermark of De Gratton x Ch De Gratton Starshine and was
a top winner in the late 70’s. She gave me a lot of fun, cementing
my love of the breed and in particular the English type of whippet
which she exemplified. Any success I have enjoyed over the years is
a tribute to Sunshine and her breeders, Neil and Janet Kay, who guided
and encouraged me in those early days.
